(57) This invention relates to signals of the character especially adapted for controlling vehicle traffic at road or street intersections or wherever a traffic rule is to be displayed and has for the primary object, the provision of a device mounted in a road or street directly in the line of vision of approaching traffic so that the indicia thereon may be easily and clearly observed and is so constructed as to swing downwardly when engaged by the wheels of passing vehicles and permit said vehicles to proceed without creating obstructions thereto.
